i just bought the eagle rotating assembly to get my engine to a 383. I talked to a guy at jegs and he recommended a computer controlled cam(which im getting next week) and he said that i will need to get a new chip burned. First of all how much does it cost to get a custom chip and the engine pulled and taken apart because im also getting a rocker set. So if you have any prices for me and suggestions for future purchases please tell me. O my car is a 1988 corvette 35th anniversary with a 700r4

Before you just start buying parts, you should have a plan and a builder. Go to Amazon and get the book by John Lingenfelter, Modifying small block chevy engines. Read the book, and learn to use the search function here.
i forgot to mention i have hooker headers with custom true dual exhaust, a fuel pressure regulator, accel distributor and the rest of the ignition is msd, i have a forced air system with the scoop in the front license plate location, march pullys and a hypertech chip. And how much does it cost to port and polish the stock l98 heads because afr heads are way to expensive

Custom chip: pcmforless.com (see alvin and the guys): 175-250, the 250 gives you lifetime updates and mods to the chip. Also with the 250 price you can datalog your setup, send in and have a new chip done.

You can get Brodix or Edelbrock cheaper than AFR then sell your 113 heads. Look at Summit Jegs etc. for prices. You should be able to get around $400 to $500 for your heads.
400 for my heads . Has anyone tried the F.A.S.T XFI/Traction control system. Evidentially the system continually measures driveshaft speed to accurately determine when to reduce engine power and eliminate loss of traction due to wheel spin.
The stock heads only flow about 210-220 cfm ported. I spent $1000 for some Brodix IK200 heads that should flow 260.
It sounds like you are having someone else do the work?? If that's the case, having a 383 built is expensive. They'll have to clearance the block and con rods, clean the block, install new cam bearings, balance the rotating assembly, check that your heads can handle the lift of the new cam, assemble the engine, and reinstall it, among other things. A 6 3/4" harmonic balancer is a good idea. While you're at it, you might as well put in ARP rod bolts if you're going to rev it over 6000 rpm. For a WAG, I'd estimate at least 2200 for all that, not counting the parts you got already, but I'm no machine shop.
And the Edelbrock Performers look down right cheap at $1200!
Thats what i've got on my '85 with the 2.02/1.6 valves. The cfm isnt as high as more expensive options like AFR but i'm stilling using the stock TPI so I dont need them. A great lightweight head IMO
then i may go with the eldebrock, but thats further down the road. Wat kind of rockers should i get for the stock heads. The guy at jegs recommended a 1.5 ratio. But i dont know was size rockerstud works best.
