Default 1986 Early/Late Year Model

Can anyone tell me how I can determine if my 1986 Vette is early or late model year? Serial number is 123803 and it is a Coupe.
Thanks,

Do you have center bolt valve covers. If so, late.

Look at the valve covers. If the bolts go down the center, its a late aluminum head. If the 4 go around the perimeter its an 86E.

You could also stick a magnet to the head

you didn't say why you were wondering....beside the aluminum head issue, there is also the fitting of the removable top: 84-86E, 86L-88, 89-96. Your car should have the later top.

they didn't introduce the alum heads until the verts came out in 86 which was late mode run - if the numbers are sequential you are in the early run.

according to the corvette black book production numbers ran from 5100001 to 5127794 for coupes.that puts your car pretty late in the run.
