Default button, button who has the button

Good Evening, I have question. my daughter has a 1994 vette, on her comfort panel at night she is showing just a light for the temp and on the radio just the freq window lights up, on the buttons for the air/heat and the radio, nothing lights up at night. I assumed (wrong) that there was a light in the dash, but I pull the radio and the air/heat out this afternoon and they were complete units, no lights. I would like to know where is the light, that lights all the buttons on both the air/heat and the radio or is it built into the units??????
many tks. Don

Verify the CNSL ILLUM 5 amp fuse is good. It's located in the fuse panel box in the passenger side end of the dash.

When you turn on the Headlight switch to Park or Head, 12 volts goes to the Incandescent Power Driver and depending on the position of the Dimmer switch determines the voltage applied by the Incandescent Power Driver that goes to the CNSL ILLUM Fuse which goes to the backlighting bulbs.

The fuse provides the voltage for the backlighting bulbs for the PRND lamp indicator for Auto trans., Radio Control Head, Heater AC Control Head, Driver info. center and Selective Ride Control Switch.
