Default Cold Start Injector

Just re-did my intake and injectors....had the injectors redone by Rich ( Great job), and put on my ported and polished intake. My question is: the fuel line on my cold start injector busted, so I just capped off the fuel rail connection, and capped off the cold start fuel line. Will this make any difference, or do I HAVE to have this injector connected to the fuel Line??? Car seems to run really good. Just wondering.......

You know that Accel makes a cold start valve plug kit the P/N being 74820. I'm guessing it really doesn't matter if you have this 9th injector or not. I have an 88 and am getting ready to pull the stock intake and put on one from DRM, the pletumn and runners and other stuff has already been modifyed. Are you kicking anykind of codes or do you still have the cold start injector in the hole with the harness hooked to it with no fuel ?

I still have the injector connected to the harness and bolted to the intake. No codes...car seems to run fine, although I haven't gotten it out much. I really don't think I need the injector here in Houston, but wanted to make sure the ECM wasn't looking for it.... :smash:

I'm in Ft. Worth and don't think i need it also. Now i would think that if Accel makes a cold start valve plug kit they wound't sell you something that would cause your computer to kick a code ! Yes , No ?

Have Craig burn you another chip. You don't need #9.

Having or not having the 9th injector will not set a code. The 9th injector is not ECM controlled or monitored. It is very simple, the thermal time/temp switch located beside the ECM coolant temp sender on the front of the intake manifold base controls the injector.

If you live in a warm climate, it can be removed with NO reprogramming. If you live in a cold climate you may wish to have the computer re-programmed to get the cold start enrichment that was added by GM after GM removed the 9th injector.
