Default Spark checker tool thing

Hello all. I am fighting to find an intermittant miss, stumble when the car warms up ( 89 , red of course). It is a real quick, jerky miss. Can feel it at idle and during cruise control.

New wires, plugs, cap, rotor,fuel injectors, fpr, checked tps, iac, etc etc etc. Can not find any vaccum leaks with propane or spray whatever.

My main question here, has anyone used the spark checker light that goes between the plug and the wire. (Thought I may be able to spot an irregular spark pulse there. Thinking I might have an ignition module going flakey or a broken wire in the distributor). Was wondering if they can hold up under the voltage of the HEI system.

Opinions appreciated, thanks!

If you have a clamp-on timing light, just use that. Clip it onto each wire and pull the trigger. You'll be able to see intermittant misses.

If you have tubular headers another trick is to spray water on each tube.. the one that evaporates the slowest is the cylinder with the problem.

If you don't want to spend $29 you could try and re-grease the module with heat sink grease and see if there is any improvement.while you're in there give it all a really good clean with electrical contact cleaner in case you have some tracking.My money's on the module.
