OK, I had a plug-in chip on my car, but took it off b/c I didn't know what it was for(was there when I bought the car).
It is from TPS-TEC, and the part # is G14E.(I can't read the name very well, but think it's just TPS-TEC, but there might be more after the TEC part). Oh, and I can't remember, but I think it was plugged into my intake near the MAF(I think it was something for the IAT, but not sure).
I'm not sure if it was the chip, b/c it only happened once then I took the chip off, but I was in limp-mode(it shifted at 3500 rpms, and not any higher). I took the chip out and reset the computer the next day, so I don't know if it was the chip or just something that day, b/c I drove it with the chip on for a few days after I got the car.
Oh, and does anyone know what brand, and what upgrade this chip is?

It's possible that this set a code and caused you to enter limp mode. This itme plugs in line with your TPS sensor. The TPS Sensor should have a voltage of about .54-.60 volts at idle. At WOT your TPS voltage should be 4.0-4.7 volts. In the stock chip, 'power enrichment' occurs at 70% throttle. Power Enrichment, or PE mode, is when the BLM locks at 128, and other fuel and timing tables kick in. This $100 gizmo makes the computer think you're at 70% throttle when you're actually somewhere around 40-50% throttle. If you're min voltage is too high, then this thing will make your WOT voltage even higher I guess... and in that case a code will set. I don't know about you, but the time it takes my foot to reach 70% throttle is not much longer than 50% throttle. For $100 I can learn to stomp the pedal faster. Most aftermarket chips make the PE change in the chip anyway, which makes this item useless. There is no brand name that I can tell on these things. They sell in the Mid America catalog for $99.99 each. PN 609-199 for 1982 & 1984 apps, 609-203 for 1985-1991 apps, and 609-205 for 1992-1996 apps. Page 139 of Catalog F11J.
Thanks a lot man, I started doing a lot of searching and I came across it at ls1motorsports.com and read about it. You just told me exactly what it does, man you're good.
Well I didn't buy it so I don't feel so bad, it came with the car, I was just wondering what it did.
