I need to replace the seal in the rear of my 88' C4, 700R4.
I don't have a FSM yet.. (working on it)
but just to know.. want is the estimated time to replace the seal and what is the recommened part to remove (exhaust Y, Cat, etc) in order to have access to the rear of the trans.. ? I am hoping that the C channel support doesn't have to be unbolted..!?
Just wondering how long I am going to spend on my back how many broke bolts I will encounter. LOL...
Pull the drive shaft(four bolts), use a screwdrive at a 45 degree angle to pull the old seal out. Use large impact sock and hammer to tap new one straight in. Re-install drive shaft. Done
I have no problem doing those.. quesion is do I have to remove the exhaust system to get at it.. or the C Channel to get to the drive shaft and access with enough room to work with the seal..
I have been under the vette much yet, Only have had the vette since the beginning of the year..
Thank. I didn't think that the C Channel would need to be removed. but since I don't have a FSM yeah.. I though I would ask.. Everything on my C4 is stock for a 88'.. I am going to start using PB Blaster on the nuts and bolts on the exhaust system to get ready to remove any part of it that would make the job easier.
But it will be a few weeks before i get to it.. to many other projects. i need to get the Chevelle ready for the start of the get togethers and cruz in's..
