Default Some engine mods for an 87

I have a list of mods I plan to put on a 87 I am getting. I plan to do these mods in different stages and not all at once, I want to buy a few, install them then when I get the money, get some more mods. My planned list is...

1. Power Effects Exhaust
2. BBK Twin Throttle Bodies-52mm
3. Hypertech Power Chip
4. March Power Pulley Set
5. Under Hood air extractor
6. BPP Vortex Rammer Cold Air System
7. Throttle Performance Switch

So what do you guys think would be some good mods to start out with, then end with?

Some don't look bad. What do you mean by twin throttle bodies? I wouldn't waste my money on the hypertech chip or underhood air extractor. Nor would I spend so much on the power effects, but then again my money tree died when I bought my car.

IMHO you can do w/o #'s 3, 5 and 7. That's $450 you can save or use for something else. When do you plan to get the 87? Is it all stock?

Out of that list, these are the only ones that I would buy. I have a hypertech stage II chip, it is junk. It is good at turning the fans on sooner though. I didn't pay for it, so I'm not mad. :) Adjust your timing from the stock 6 degrees BTDC to something like 10 (mine is at that). If you get pinging, go to 9, then 8 if you have to. If you get no pinging, try 11, then 12. You get the idea. :)

The 52mm throttlebody will be a complete waste of time and $350 if you have not done other modifications to the intake system like a ported or different plenum, ported/new intake manifold, head work.

The hood air extractor.... won't make much difference over 30mph anyways. Maybe it's good for sitting at a light though!:)

The throttle performance switch is a complete joke (honest). If you want, set the TPS to 0.68v at idle, and you'll get the same results. WOT is WOT, whether you have that thing on it or not. Put your foot to the floor and you'll have the same 4.5v reading at WOT whether you paid for it or not.

Definitely get the Power Effects, but other than the Throttle body, which itself wont do any good w/o porting and such, i wouldnt waste my money on the other. The Vortex Rammer might be a good idea but i prefer SLP cold air induction, theyre all basically the same thing though. I think you could also get a chip burned for you cheaper than the Hypertech if all you need is your fans turned on earlier.

Ram air is good.

Unless you plan to ONLY drive it to/from the race track, I do not recommend the pulley set. The biggest problem I have is keeping voltage up with the AC on in summer sitting in traffic, with stock pulleys no less...underdriven pulleys will hurt your AC/voltage and cooling system, so your car will run hotter in summer or your battery will die running fans off the weaker alternator output.

What will make substantially more power than pulleys is a set of headers, even on the stock exhaust. Plus your accessory drive speed will not suffer.

If you do a lot of traffic driving, the hot air extractor could be a lifesaver, not really helping performance too much though.
