Timing chain
I have a 94 with 81,000 highway miles. I'm getting ready to replace the water pump and opti spark, should I replace the timing chain also. Nothing has ever been replaced all orginal.

My common sense says change it. A good one is $100. On the other hand, I did mine when I did the cam at 85000 miles the and chain was in very good shape. Never expected that. I put it in just to be safe. You should do it too, since you are going to be almost there anyway.

Most of the stetch occurs within the first 10k miles. In the old days with the nylon gears 100k miles or 10 years was pretty much the limit. With todays clean burning engines and steel gears, they can last a very long time, it's very rare to have timing related problems (don't get me started on timing belts!). If It's a worry, change it.
