Default fuel smell

well, in order to fix the smell, you have to look one more place.
under the car, forward of the rear axle, on the left side strapped to the bottom of the body is a fuel vent line that they put in in the factory in two pieces.
just in towards the center of the car, is where the rubber hose is that splices these fuel vent lines. on mine, every time I shut the car off, there was this pesky fuel smell.
I finally crawled under the car, and there was a slight stain on the body under coating. I picked away at the under coating only to find a short, 2 and a half inch piece of 3/16 hose connecting these two lines.
It runs fore and aft.
it is all covered in undercoating, so it won't look like a vent line.

This is a pic on the base intake with the plenum removed. The fuel pressure regulator is the black "Hat" on the left side with the little tube (vacuum port) coming out of it.

Also: Make sure you check your hard fuel lines under the car. I had to replace mine because of rust. They were weeping fuel, and causing a smell they were so rusted.

.
After you are done checking the vent line disconnect it from the tank and canister then blow through it.
If blocked causes fuel vapours to vent from tank

The rubber hose under the cannister goes no where. I think it is some kind of vent line the general put in and didn't know what to do with. I think it may have been used on earlier models to help emissions. The replacement canister I bought didn't have the nipple on the bottom of the can. As everyone says check the vent lines real good they are the culprits most of time. You can find the FSM on e-bay most of the time, just make sure you buy the one with the red cover, some people are selling preliminary books which aren't complete. You can also buy new ones but I can't remember the e-mail maybe some one else will chime in with that.
