This is my setup thats in progress.I wanted the great sound of the Hotcam, and still keep the D/D street manners. The car might see track time twice a year. Gonna run a mild boost psi around 8. What do you gus think.I just want a quick street car.The drag strip is murder on ya car.You guys think this is overkill for a street car? Any tips would be great!!!
I knw its not overkill for the street, with the setups some guys are running. These LSX motors are hell. Just don't want to be bullied by the newer gens. I know guys wit LSX's running twin turbos!!!! Just devastating power!!!
There is another member using a hotcam with his blower and he is happy with the results. 8psi is a little high for your stock pistons. You will need an intercooler or water/meth injection at that pressure setup to insure there is no detonation. I only have a little over 600 hp. There are C4 guys here who have 700 to as much as 1500+ hp( John Meaney) in their cars. No such thing as too much for the street.
I'm using the hot cam w/ my blower but agree w/ BrianCunningham - I could have gotten better overall results with a cam spec'd for blowers. It will work, but I'm no where near the 600+ HP in the above post. My 96 A4 pulled 400 RWHP/458 RWTQ Saturday during my club's dyno day. Nothing to brag about but enough to keep most on the street honest... pick your poison.
I'm running a lunati 215/224 112 lsa with 1.6 RR for .520 lift it is "pretty" close to a LT$ hot cam.. as the above posts suggest the more radical the cam, the more power you basically push out the exhaust. On a good day I'm hitting 12 pounds of boost.
