Default C5 rear rotors on a C4?

Any body ever try a set of C5 rotors on a C4? I know of the difference in the parking brakes, just want to know if they will fit. Got a great deal on some Baer Eradispeed +2 14inch rear rotors and caliper brackets. Won't have a chance till next weekend to see if they will even fit.

Unless doing some very serious track work most don't consider a rear upgrade worth the trouble so you probably won't get too many answers

I believe they will fit, but you will need to be running an 18"+ wheel size

C5 rear rotors are only 12", so there is NO need to run 18" wheels. In fact, you can probably run 16" wheels.

14"? Are you going to cut a slot in the top of the caliper so they fit?

I'm aware of that, but the OP said 14" rotors.....sure if they are 12" they should fit with no problem, but a 14" rotor will require at least an 18" wheel

Ah, ok, I re-read his original post. The C5 caliper brackets won't fit a C4 anyway, so all of this is a moot point.

You have to use the expensive adapters if you dont have access to machines yourself, but I know they make them and have seen a couple here with them before.

I dont believe you will get the improvement in braking that you want to get though.

The 14 inch rotors cam with the expensive Baer brackets to use with C5 stock rear calipers. Gonna see if I can make the stock C4 calipers work in its place so I can retain my E brake. I have 18x11 Mallett wheels. They make the 12 inch rotors look small. So it is an aesthetics thing. Plus, I am going to put the 06 Z06 calipers and some Baer 14 inch rotors on the front.

Boy, we are complicated, don't we

I can't wait to see which one of us (C4) will attempt to install a LS9 in a C4.

Well Jeffvette is waiting for the new ZR1 brakes to come out so he can bolt those monsters on. An LS9 would be fun. Would need a cowl hood though.

Well finally got around to trying these out. Rotors fit no problem even with the Ebrake drum on the inside. Problem is the thickness of C5/6 rotors on the rear is too wide for C4 rear calipers no matter what. The parking brake mechanism doesn't give enough with for the pads to clear. The caliper will bolt on to the C5/6 abutment brackets since the C4 bracket wont clear the rotor either. Then once again with either C4 or C5 pads, it won't clear. Only way to work is to use C5/6 caliper and abutment bracket and custom make a adaptor to mount to C4 spindle since there is a difference in bolt spacing and sizes. And like others have said above the pad difference is almost nill between the C4 and C5/6 making losing the ebrake not worth it. I just wanted the big 14" rotor back there since it looked damn impressive in my wheels. Oh well, I had to see for myself.

when upgrading the front brakes it is very important to also upgrade the rear brakes to keep a correct balance.
For instance, a stock HD c4 brake system with good pads will be more efficient on a track than an unbalanced ( too much brake force in front) upgraded c5 or bear front brake wirh stock rear brakes.
Having too much front brakes is dangerous even if your upgraded front cools better etc...
Changing front only looking for improvnent is worth it and typicaly done by newbies.

Having c5 rear brakes is a good idea as it will keep the balance right. Understood you will need to equilibrate the system anyway.
