I have the catback system on. Would headers significantly change the exhaust sound when added to the corsas? Anyone do this? It seems from other threads that I won't get much performance gain until I get a cam, but would the headers rob me of any low end torque, or is that just a characteristic of the LT4 cam.
headers and Corsas with no cats is a bit loud at WOT. But cruising speed it is quiet still. See my sig for my mods and effects of the stock motor with a bunch of bolton parts!
You can get a pair of Random Technology Bullet cats on there. I did it with the L98. The cats plug right onto the end of the collectors, then I had the muffler shop bend new head-pipes from the cats to the resonator.
With your LT4, you'll need to have them put bungs in to screw your O2 sensors in (both sides) and I believe you'll need them in front of the cats as well (the wonders of owning an LT4...4 O2 sensors) to allow the computer to work properly.
Make sure you get headers that are coated...they reduce the under-hood temps.
It's not real loud when I am driving normally. But when I get on it is it loud in a good sounding way. :D Everyone at E-Town says mine is one of the loudest cars there but sounds great. I wanted someone to drive my car so I could hear it at the track but never did. I am actually thinking of putting on bullit cats to tame it down just a bit but I still haven't decided yet. Post in the NE section with a question if my car is too loud and see what they all say.
RichS 's car sounds the best - there is no doubt about it!
I was trying to almost duplicate his exhaust system, but Doug Rippie won't sell their C4 long-tube headers anymore.... I just bought TPIS long tubes... I'm also eliminating the cats.
