Default 19" Wheel offset question [PICS]

Hey Guys. First things first, Im not hating on the ZR1/Z06/C5/C6 wheels, I think they all look great (minus C6), I had a set of ZR1s on my 91, but Im just sick of them all. There is no originality. So I decided to find a different wheel for a (somewhat) similiar price.

The wheel is 19x9.5 5x120 40mm. Im gonna wait to tell you what kind once they are on with tires

I was test fitting these wheels and the offset sticks the wheel out 16mm over the stock 9.5" wheels, but by my calculations it should stick out 9mm LESS the the GS wheels. So I guess that will be fine.

I took pictures of the test fit. Tell me what you think. Also, I have a machine shop that can mill the offset to take about another 5mm to tuck it a little more. What are your thoughts on that. Should I keep it the way they are, or bring it in 5 more mils

Tell me what you think?

It looks like it sticks out about as far as GS 17x11s do.

Looks good. I have 18x9.5's with a +48 on the front. So a + 40 should fine. I love the look of 19's but finding them to fit 11's in back is expesive so I haven't gone this way yet. Do you have a closer pic of the wheel itself?

19x11s are so expesive, so I figured, what the heck, 19x9.5 isn't terrible. Im gonna go with a 275/30/19 tire. I think it will look great.

looks good, it would be easier to tell with a tire on it and at ride height though..

I think it is gonna look good too. Make sure your brakes are pretty 'cause everybody is going to see them. I like black wheels on a green car.

Check the bolt pattern very carefully. The Corvette 5-bolt lug pattern is actually 5x120.6 Just over a half-millimeter doesn't sound like much, but the lugs may not seat evenly in the hole. The lugs will eventually remove metal from around the hole, but it may be uneven. Lugs that do not sit square and contact 100% of the bolt hole may work loose.

Also with the wheel sitting further outside, carefully check the front tires to see if there will be any interference between the edge of the tire and the wheelwell openings or the frame rails.

I used to sell custom wheels and tires (among other performance products and accs.) and have done 100's of them. 5x120 and 5X120.65 never proved to have a problem. The lugs sit perfectly into the wheel. Thanks for the advice though, as it is very good and it is something to make sure to take notice of every now and then...

I already checked the front and Im goin with 19x8.5 in the front and they fit perfectly. The 9.5 sticks out a little too far on the front for my liking.

because everyone does 17" ZR1 or 18" z06, and Im sick of that look, the point of changing things about your car is to make it your own and make it look the way you like it.

I think 19" wheels look the best on our cars, plus its different then normal... and thats me

now your turn...

Why not???

Ok, I just wondering. Its your car and you can do whatever you want to it. Why wouldnt I put 19" wheels on my C4? Three reasons. One, to me it looks too big. Second, thats just more rotating mass to lug around. Finally, those tires are going to be very expensive.

BAM,
As I have not seen your car in person, could you post up pics of the car, and maybe a close-up of the wheels? I am considering moving to 18s and looking for ideas.

OP sorry about the sidetrack, but I figured it all had to do with aftermarket wheels, and everyone loves more pics.

I don't think that the wheel sticks out too far however only you can tell if you're going to be happy with that look.

I was wondering why you weren't considering the 285 size rather than the 275. You'd have a slightly wider tire that will fit the 9.5" wheel just fine and the extra 10mm should provide you with a rub strip that extends out a bit further than the wheel itself to protect against curb rash.

Looks good Best of luck with it.

Sure, I will ask my wife where she has them stored and email them to you as I don't know how to post pics. Right now car is nose high in air with front wheels off as the engine just went back in and I am chroming or polishing or powdercoating all the under hood parts before they go back in. Decided to keep car a little longer and do a few more things to it i.e.(bigger C6z brakes, roll bar(purchased last weekend) and stereo).
