Steering issue...need help
its a 94 coupe.....anywho, when its cold outside or a cold start (like for the day or after ten hours) the first 4-7 mins of driving are really shakey. There is a definate vibration in the steering wheel and the car. Also when i'm in a turn (like on the highway) and hit a bump the steering wheel and car shake. Whats up with that? what could be the issue or needing replacement?

Well at first when you said the first five minutes the front end would shake I was thinking it might be because your tires are cold and have a flat spot till they warm up, but that wouldn't cause it to shake later on when you hit a bump. I would think tie rod, or shocks, but maybe just front end alignment...WW

see i had one guy tell me i had a bad upper ball joint a while back but he was the oil change guy at a quick lube. I had the guys look at it where i trust to have motor work done and they said it looked fine. The car just hit 70k two days ago, but sat in a garage for almost two years with maybe 200 miles during that time. dont know if that might help out anything.

Get the front end off the ground and support it with jack stands under the sideframe, then you can tell if there is any play in the front end, see if you have any play when you rock the front wheels side to side, then check the ball joints by using a steel bar and prying against them to check for play. Grab the wheel at the top and bottom and rock back and forth to check for bad wheel bearings while your at it. Also if you go in to have a front end alignment and tell them to check for any bad front end components they will check all this for you before doing a alignment if they are a half decent shop. WW
