I am guessing that you bought the 3/4" adapters from them. Some of the aftermarket wheels out there do not have a recess to accept the heads. This was the case when I bought Z06 wheels for my 85. You will have to go to the 1" adapters. These adapters will have the heads recessed enough that they will allow the wheel to sit flush to the adapter.

I bought mine from A-DAPT-IT USA (www.adaptitusa.com). They are 1" thick, to adapt a 5 x 4.75 to a 5 x 4.75 wheel. Hope this helps.
