Hi,my heads are on and now im installing the new lifters !!!
there are 2 ways i can put the lifters on :
The lifters have a little hole for oil i guess, the hole its just in one side ...and i dont know
if the hole has to face the front of the engine ? or looking at the windshield ?
I guess the oil flow comes from the windshield side so my guess is that the right way its the small hole facing to the windshield,to the rear of the engine ..
anyone can confirm this ?
thanks !
The drivers side bank faces the windshield, and the pass side faces the front bumper....... Just kidding!
It does not matter which way they go. The oil galley feeds them.
I believe there is a groove in the lifter hole to allow the oil to surround the lifter, so it should not make a difference. Place you finger in the lifter hole and see if you can feel anything. If not then look for a hole for the oil to enter and align the lifter with this hole.
No hole on the block,i thought about the oil gallery feeding them
but i wanted to confirm.-
on the Chilton's book it does not say if there is a correct position.
thanks !

Do you have the retainers and spider? They only fit one way. the flat parts run lengthwise with the car. Do NOT put them in without the retainers and spider.
jsup !
Yes i have the retainers and the spider !
and i tried them today and i put the retainers just to test
and they can be installed both ways ,yes they worked both ways
hole facing front ...hole facing rear....
but i want to know the correct positioning ...if there is a correct positioning
