Default Anybody had this happen before?

It was bumper to bumper traffic on the freeway tonight and after setting in it for about an hour, I went to put my foot on the gas and was not going and could not hear the engine. The car had died, I did not know this due to the stero and on the phone.....But, it fired right up and on my way I went, well still bumper to bumper..... But I saw it was idleing kind of high...about 15/ 1600 rpm's... I don't know why this would be but then it went back to normal...well about 1000 or so... Now I just put in a new re-man ECM over the weekend, bumped the timing up to about 10 degrees and cleaned the T-body. It has nice T-response and when it starts it idle's about 10 to 1200 rpm's... Isn't this kind of high? or is it fine, what about the car just dying out of the clear blue. It was not hot or anything I had the manual fan switch on so the car was about 180 maybe a little less. Does the TPS need to be set or something?

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance
Pete

You may need a new TPS,or the high Idle could be the extra 4 degrees of advance . Also the computer may be learning driveing habits.

Funny... mine has done this exact thing twice in the last month. It will idle fine until you press the gas, then it dies.

I just thought it was strange that it would just die..... I don't know what it could be...Maybe the computer is learning like you said....I have not set the TPS yet so I will try that...Any tricks to it...and what is the proper way to do it? It does not do it when I press the gas...I have great T- response like I said...Just poof it died....

Thanks
