Power Steering Problem
Bought an 89 model 6 sp. vette sight unseen and one of the several problems is the power steering. The problem is there is none.
The hose that I can see still has the tag and it looks new. My dad took it to a garage today and a mechanic said that he said its either the pump or the rack. I figure if the rack was broken that I would not be going anywhere so I am betting on the pump at this point. BTW - the fluid was a little low, but we filled it and no change.
Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this?

Well the pump is $50 that would be one of doing it....I am positive that someone else has a better way of checking it than just changing the pump out.
There has to be way to check if the pump is producing pressure.
and the only reason I posted while not having the answer......I just saw that it was over 30 minutes and no one else had taken a stab at it. Some times it takes one reply to get it started
