Default u-joint going out

i belive i have a u-joint going out in my 1990. There is a total of 6 u-joints right? is there anyway to tell which axle it is or if it is the driveshaft? Even if it is just one is it worth it to spend the time and change them all?

9 out of 10 times it's the half shafts. When you do the swap make sure you buy real spicer U-joints. They are OEM and last a long time. Most of the store brand "spicer like" u joints i have tried wind up in the trash in a couple months. On a side note, worn out bushings or a cracked spring will allow axle wrap and destroy almost any u joint. Definately things to check if you notice the half shafts fail frequently.

Bad "U" joints aren't hard to find. There will usually be a little rusty dust on the joint and shaft. If not just do a little push/ pull on the joint. Rotate the shaft in both directions while in park will also find the bad joint. I have always changed just the bad joint. But then again they were not on a Vette. Later! Frank
