Default Non Self Align

Is there any advantage to running non-self aligning rockers?

Say Comp Pro Mags vs Crane aluminum.

Will the NSA rev higher?

How long have self aligning rockers been around?

If you are SA it will cost $ to convert. I think SA's came in 1988 with the 113's but not positive. I stayed with SA, less cost overall, less work. Yes, I'm lazy. If you have a L98 you won't rev high enough to matter.

self-aligning rocker arms are a BUNCH cheaper to install than guide plates and hardened stem pushrods = bigger GM profit.

SA rockers will function satisfactorily until "new car" warranty expires and failure soon thereafter (high loadings/wear at valve stem/rocker arm guide nub interface causes ridges/ lifter adjustment upset) will increase replacement parts volume = bigger GM profit, and dealerships enjoy increased labor billing.

NON-self aligning rockers will last much longer and can be used in "solid lifter" application (using a feeler gauge on SA rockers "can" be done, albeit with difficulty)

Lloyd Elliot suggested that if I was going to change my stock LT4 lifters, That I use Comp Pro Mags.

"If you are changing rockers, I would step up to some non self aligning Comp Pro Mags (Comp 1302-16) and Trick flow 30400623-8 guide plates. These are steel and flex a lot less than the alu rockers but since they are steel, they can be made a lot slimmer in a few areas and end up weighing less than the aluminum rockers but MUCH stronger."

Lloyd told me the same thing.
