stick a screwdriver through your instrument cluster glass.
oh, and if your low oil psi light comes on, just stab that one out too. also, if your vehicle begins to overheat, disconnect your temp gauge. get my drift? cars are pretty easy to fix!!!! yay!!!
Underneath the dash is the ecm hookup, jump out the upper right two slots (A/B).this grounds the ecm.
the service engine light will flash "12" three times , followed by whatever error codes after that, meaning one flash followed by 2 flashes =12, etc, record the codes and look in your Haynes manual and see what the code means.(example: 4 flashes followed by 3 flashes = code 43).
The SES light is on because the ECM has detected a fault in the connection, circuit, or component. You will need to pull the codes and see what is wrong.

Bought a few cars like that, and with the bulb pulled out. Got to where I always check to make sure the CE lamp was on when I turned the key on.
Sometimes this doesn't even help, Ive seen where some people wire the check engine light to one of the other dash lights so that it comes on and goes off with that light. Then it looks like its working normally. WW

The car does a bulb test when you turn on the ignition. Your SES light should come on momentarily then.
