Replacing fuel pump on 84......
I noticed that there is a large capacitor or something soldered onto one of the wires. Can I bypass this or do I need to resolder it to the new harness included with the fuel pump?

I don't know if you know this or not but the 85 fuel pump provides much more fuel pressure and bolts right up. I would not replace your stock pump with another stock 84. definately go with the 85. check out the crossfire forum for more details.

Cool,
I never had a chance to do that mod with mine before I sold it. Are you going to make your fuel pressure adjustable? Good luck.

It's already adjustable from the factory :D You just have to pry off the cover cap and buy a special double-D wrench to adjust it. This is for the Ceasefires only.

I replaced my '84's pump with an '85 unit also but I didn't have to change a capacitor. I just changed the pump and wiring connectors because they were different. I used a pump from Autozone.
