M/T street radials are plenty sticky, too sticky! If you're using the stock half shafts then be gentle on them. I twisted one out a couple of seasons ago doing burn-outs at 5K RPM and launches at 4.5K.
After checking out the MT website, I guessed this is what everyone was referring to. Thanks all!
BTW Pete, your tranny is holding up like a champ. Even w/ those big meats on the back, the shifts are snappy and I can spin the tires through 1st and second at will. Good work, lad.
I ran the bfg 315 on my vette on the street and they are great, the nittos are too hard and don't stick as well on the track.
Now i run the et streets at the track and they are awesome,no spin what so ever.M/T has a drag radial that has a great reputation.
MT Street Radials. Great tire. Used them on my 01 Z06, so I could drive to the track with them on. My C4 won't be using them, though. I will be running some sort of MTs, but the shop and I are still deciding which ones to run. These will not be used at all on the street...only on the track. Most likely with tubes.
BFG DRs for the street and M/T ET drags on Alumni Stars for the track (with tubes and screws). The only negative is that it will "haze" the slicks at full boost in 3rd and 4th gear. Not fun, but about the best traction you could want.

Thank you sir
Glad it is working as planned. Next time I am out there, a ride is in order.
I will be running a set of the et streets this year. Not the radial. I will get to see first hand if my Pete K trans holds up.
I never broke my built 700R4s at the track on slicks, always on the street or highway. I got tired of breaking them (twisted the ears of the convertor, broke the input shaft and broke one of the drums; this gets real old fast), so I switched to a ZF in '98.
The slicks tended to break spindles, and halfshafts, and once one of the u-joints on the main shaft. Slicks and the McLeod twin disk will definitely show you the weak link in your drivetrain (if you are looking for it).
