Default stock 88 vette needs injectors

Can anyone tell me what kind of a job new fuel injectors would be and any suggestions on what brand and pressure to replace my stock ones with. And what other gaskets I will need or should replace while Im in there.

Thanks
Matt

It's an easy job. If you go that far, replace the intake manifold gaskets.

I didn't find it all that hard.

As for brand, there's one manufacturer that makes an entire range of brands, so be careful about brand. People will tell you brand "X" is terrific and brand "Y" sucks and they are made in the same factory.

I would recommend looking at TPIS, Racetronix (which I just ordered), the NEW Accel, Holley to name a few. All are DISC, not pintle injectors and are all of equal high quality. Also, depending on price, Autozone and Napa have injectors of same quality in their OEM brands. If you choose any one of those brands you should be getting equal quality, so shop price on those.

Unless you want to do a retune, stick with the stock pressure. If you have no other major mods, changing the pressure won't buy you anything anyway.

Stick with a direct stock replacement @ 21.5 - 22 lbs. at @ 43 psi. Buy a new high quality injector if you have the funds.

Default Injecting Advice

IF performance is important to you, as well as a tad better mileage I would advise sending off your old or new set to TPIS. Give them a call and they can advise you as to what the best direction is for you.

I do agree that all the major forms are putting out good products these days. Don't fall into the hype that higher flow injectors are best for your application. There are too many variables. On a stock powerplant, I'd stay with the stock flow rates. Anyway, call TPIS. You'll be glad you did. Very helpfull and VERY much on top of their game!!

I have an 88. I installed Accel injectors when I changed my intake to a superam. It ran well for over a year. Then the fuel pressure started to drop fast and it was a little hard to start at times. Everything pointed to at least one leaky injector. I would not buy Accels again.

I ordered a new set of Bosch injectors from an injector rebuilder but ended up with used. I won't let that happen again. I sent them back but the injector rebuilder tried to keep 20% of my money plus the shipping and handling. I got all my money back after I filed a complaint.

So now I'm changing them again. I got a set of Trick Flow injectors from summit racing. They are new and look good. Hope they work OK. Racetronix, summitracing.com or any major auto parts store should have replacement injectors.

Just be sure to buy from an established and reputable dealer. I would buy new, not rebuilts. Stick with something close to OEM.

Changing the injectors is not difficult if you have a little experience. I would get an intake manifold gasket set. You may want to replace a few things while you are in there. It's a good time to replace the EGR valve, thermostat and the TB hoses. If you want to do a TB bypass or a AFPR now is the time.

The old Pintle Accels had a problem. The NEW DISC ones are manufactured by a new OEM company and are far better. Even the OEM company says the old ones are sh*t.

Yeah, I read that. Maybe the newer Accels are a lot better. We have more choices now and thats a good thing. Just read your PM. Sorry, wish I had known earlier. The TFXs are going in today. Gonna polish up the SR and do the TB bypass at the same time.
