that's what i did. the sound is great, wot is loud but normal cruising is no louder then my old Borla's.

Eckler muffler eliminators
Has anyone used these on 94 or thereabouts. My concern is to get better sound but not be driving something that sounds like staight pipes. Will still have cats and resonator. Really new to vette world as an owner. thanks

if it were me, i'd ditch the rest of the system and keep a good set of mufflers...
my 97 Cadillac Deville is 3" before the hollow stock cat, 2.75 outlet after and flows into a custom Y feeding a dual 2.5" catback with cut-down and repacked glasspacks. It provides a wonderfully muscular tone never before heard on a N* powered vehicle. I ran the same without mufflers for a month or so till i got tired of it and HAD to install the glasspacks to keep resonance down. it was bad...

as stated i have since added a set of roughly 10.5" glasspacks...it sounds worlds better at speed now...

Think VERY carefully before doing this!!
On one of my Vettes (an 85) I was showing and racing I put on a front Y pipe, hollowed out the Cat and went with straight pipes Ie muffler eliminators. Too loud to talk at times. Sounded GREAT but way too great for long term (sometimes short term) driver comfort. I ended up putting on some targa mufflers which clean up the rear end (opposed to the ugly stock type mufflers) and gave me a nice, deep exhaust note. Lack of major resonance was refreshing. Power gains were right on as the Targa's gave just the right blend of backpressure that complimented all the intake work I did. This set up was one giant air pump that really performed. Am doing another with a newer model just the same way....

For those of us who don't have time to go to a muffler shop(even on weekends). Buying a kit from one of the catalogs(go to Mid America or Corvette Central, stay away from Ecklers) is an good option. It doesn't take much to do it right in your driveway. I've done it twice.

I have a 92 vert and I have had many different combinations on my Vette. I keep coming back to the stock cat back with muffler elims (the ones with the LT1 tips). I run Hooker Shorties, OEM cats and the OEM resonator. I love the sound and the resonance is easy to control. Just keep the RPMs high, above 1500 during cruise and she's quiet. I also put an "H" pipe aft of the resonator.

Are your tips painted silver or did you have them chromed? Looks good. I have the bolt on chrome tips but they are peeling after years of use. I was thinking of painting the black tips. Is that Reese thing a tow hook up? What are you pulling with it?
To the OP I had some Elims made at an exhaust shop for around $60 when my exhaust was still stock. I liked the sound very much. Try it and you have not lost much if you don't like it.

I put them on my 92...I painted them black first w/ high heat spray paint so they look nice under the car. Sound is the best I have ever heard on any car!!!!!!! At cruising speeds not loud at all either!

I have the muffler eliminators with cats on my 93 6 speed. They sound great on the street but can be a bit over bearing on the freeway. With the LT-1 gearing you have to be doing over 80 before the boom in the cabin goes away. Interstingly enough, I ran straight pipes on my 90 L-98 and never noticed the boom at freeway speeds. Its the 3.08 vs 3.31 gearing difference.

When I was auto cross racing, I pulled a little trailer with my race wheels, tools, and ice chest. I had the LT1 tips powder coated with simulated chrome then welded them on.

muffler elims
I just bought the elims from MY93TOY (above post)...I installed them
in my driveway this weekend and love the sound, it was an easy install as well. It's all a matter of personal preference, it's not too loud for me and has some attitude going down the road. The good thing is that if I want to revert back to the mufflers I can just put them back on, no big deal.

As stated before ,a matter of taste.Rode in my buddies 95 6 speed.He loved it,but cruise speed drove ME nuts,the drone was AWFUL to me.Best bet is try to find someone who has them and take a ride.

It is hard to tell from the vid but a friend told me that he loves the sound of my car. I bolted the y right up to the collectors and gutted the main cat. The car already had the "muffler elim" done(i love that term
