Default Intercooler or Meth Injection?

I just bought a Procharger P600B for my '86. It did not come with an intercooler. I have no idea what kind and size intercooler I need, and I dont know where a reliable place to get it would be. I was also debating just getting the Meth Injection and not going the intercooler route. What are your opinions? Also if you have an intercooler lying around I would be happy to buy it.

I think the procharger front mount LT1/LT4 C4 intercooler looks pretty cool.

I would think this could be made to work with an L98. I don't know if they're available separately.

This is very difficult to make work, as the LT1/4 had the slanted radiator, while the early L98 had the straight up and down radiator / condensor.

For a P-600B, I would just go with the xxOH injection. The I/C piping tends to be quite a restriction unless you got one of the very early I/C piping set-ups that had the larger 3" piping. Still a restriction as it used the same IC, but not quite as much of a restriction due to the larger diameter piping.

My 1984 is similar to the 1986.

Default H2O is the way to go

I put a new motor and the SC w/IC all at the same time. My engine oil and water temps went up from the 175-185 to 210-225. I just thought it was the new 383, stroking/thin walls. I put a larger BeCool radiator with two 10" fans pushing into the IC and into the radiator and two 12" fans pulling from behind the radiator. Oil and trans coolers. All this helped very little. If I pushed it hard under boost, I had to wait for it to cool down. I could never run the A/C. The temps would shoot up so fast, even on the high way. A few years later I remove the IC and all it's pipes to add H2O and the temps dropped back to the 175-185. I can even run the A/C. Under boost the temps never go up. I wish I had done this years ago. I have not had a re-tune yet. So I don't now the HP increase. I think it runs stronger. I should have the tune in May. Douglas

Ditto...........same story here......I spent three years trying to keep it cool and mucho bucks.........finaly took the intercooler off and now I spray.............I would use one if I could put it somewhere other than in front of the radiator.

Default Which methanol system?

OK...I'm all but convinced to get rid of my intercooler. I'm having the same overheating problems with an intercooled 600B. The temp goes up insanely fast (replaced thermostat twice), gets ridiculously hot with the AC on, and I'm sure it's heat soaked sitting there next to the 235 degree radiator.

I've called procharger numerous times and they say they haven't had any complaints about overheating or even hot L98's with the intercooled setup. I'm going to call BS on that one.

My AC compressor clutch coil burned up (may be unrelated) and my evaporator seems to have developed a leak, I'm guessing from having a few 245 degree excursions when I was trying to run the AC.

I was about to install an aluminum radiator and I purchased a programmable fan switch, but it looks like that's been tried before with no results. Thanks for the post dustman!

SOOOOOO....Which methanol system have people had great results with?

I'm thinking about heading to the dyno with the intercooler still on, then going injected and doing it again. Maybe I'll wait for dustman to post his results and save a few hundred $$$. =)
