Default Mass air flow sensor housing?

Has anyone tried this mod with the larger MAF housing? Is it really worth it? Or is it just another scam. Its claim is 9 HP. What do you think? Hell, for $39.99 why not?

Depending on how modified your car is, the stock MAF is more than adequate. For a comparison, my particular car has a Granatelli MAF and makes 455rwhp. Thinking that it may have been a restriction I played around with speed density mode and completely eliminated the MAF and the car ran essentially the same 1/4 mile times and trap speeds. The Granatelli MAF is essentially the MAF ends you are asking about.

I just installed this on my 95. Somewhere on this forum, somebody put up a link to a site that installed this on a stock lt1 vette. They dyno tested it and where shocked that there was 9 more rear wheel horsepower with just this add on. I haven't driven my car yet with this on, so can't really compare to the stock.

I installed this on my 95. I would agree with the article that said it was worth 9 RWHP. And for $40, why not?

not only that, but cant you jsut cut off the screen in front of the stock maf? I have supercharged car, and i took the stock maf, and actually romoved both fittings, and just have the thin 3/4" maf itself coupled between my boost piping, which uses those 4 small holes. If you do get rid of your stock maf, let me know, im actually looking for another.

But yeah, the power pickup would be the elimination of that screen to let the air flow better obviously. As far as a bigger hole goes...? if the smaller diameter is persent anywhere else along the intake piping, or your throttle body, it doesnt matter how wide your maf is, the air is still restricted elsewhere.

Take the thing appart, cut the screen off the fitting, and then put it back together and save a few bucks.
