When the price of gas started to skyrocket...several months ago, I went from Mobil 92 octane to 89 octane...and saved a couple of buck per tank. Did this for over three months and tracked my gas mileage which was 20 mpg (for over three months).

Then went back to 92 octane and the mph went up to just over 22. Spend a little more for a 10% total increase in mpg.

Stay off the service streets as much as possible. I just got back from a 2000 mile drive to NY and averaged 26.8 in my 88.

Things to do in order to obtain batter gas mileage.........which all the CF members herein are aware of:

1) Keep car tuned with regular plug, air filter and oil changes

2) Some of you may remember a show broadcast on Hot Rod TV (Horsepower) where they tested the "Fitch" fuel catylst - I can tell you it works.

http://www.fitchfuelcatalyst.com

- raised my mpg by 1.8
- lowered emissions (CO) several points
- and I get a small (no SOTP) increase in HP & TQ

This is not an "additive" - but a catylst. It works by cleaning up the "fuel" you do put into your ride (removing water, desiel contaminates, etc.) so that the fuel which does reach your injectors or T/Body (84's) is as clean and pure as possible.

Think about it - lots of folks go out and buy those off the shelf "additives" and pour them into their gas tanks every once in awhile. While I suppose this helps, it is not permenant. we even go ahead and use really good products like Seafoam every once in a while too. And just as a catylitic converter burns off excess hydrocarbons and cleans up the exhaust exiting the vehicle - this product does the same things - except for your fuel.

I am no spokesperson for Fitch - but I was impressed by the test results on Horsepower. They took (for those who did not see this show) a SBC and ran the engine on a dyno 3 times each obtaining a base set for both 87, and then 91 octane fuel. They then (using the very same engine), connected the Fitch catylst in line with the fuel system. They ran the engine 3 times on 87 and then 91 octane. In both cases where the catylst was used the amount of fuel used was a couple of percentage points LESS then the same engine without the catylst in place - and all runs were conducted starting from the same RPM, same water / oil temperature and ending at the same upper level RPM.

The dyno graph on each of these runs further showed the engine developed more HP &TQ using the catylst then it did without it in place........

Food for thought fellow CF members - especially as the folks above me in this thread have indicated their concern for raising fuel costs....

Cheers
