Default Hood Clearance

Down anybody know that the max safe height for an intake on a C4 is as measured from the front and rear of the block? I know there are a number of people here that have been through this. I've got a buddy that's having a Hogans intake made for his 7 sec car and he has no way of mocking anything up at the moment.
Thanks!
Scott

I used some PlayDo and got 4" at the rear and 3 1/2" at the front, using an LT1 manifold. You can then just measure your manifold with a tapemeasure and add the numbers together.

Also take into account that the throttle body projects forward
and upward from the height measured at the front of the plenum,
while the the hood projects forward and downward.

Take note of the raised section in the center of the hood and
how this steps down moving out to the sides. Since the engine
is offset in the chassis, this 'step' may a factor on the driver's
side of the plenum.

One technique I have seen is to use an expanding foam inside a
bag to create a mold of the region between the top of the engine
and the underside of the hood.
