Default Another AC compressor question

The compressor on my '88 has begun to throw oil from the back of the pulley. I want to fix it before it gets too bad. Is it possible to remove the pulley and get in to change the front seal without hassle, or is this one of those things that just says it's new compressor time?

I found on my LT1 the clutch was almost as much as one of the replacement compressors.. I ended up just replacing the whole compressor when my clutch burned up..

Shaft seal is shot. Here's a Link to a guy doing one his Porsche - http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...so_rebuild.htm - different model Nippo Compressor, but the procedure is the same. R & R the compressor; ie, get all the gas out and remove it. Seal kits are about 50 Bucks. If it's been going on for any length of time, it may have grooved the shaft and if that has happened, it won't reseal. Also, pull and clean the orifice. Less oil, more wear and all that metal ends up in the screen. Nothing worse than fixing it and recharging only to have lousy vent temps because there's not enough gas getting through to saturate the Evaporator. Replace the Accumulator too. Finally, clean the oil off the hood - some say it leaches through and destroys the paint.
