I am looking for a hand held scan tool for my 1992 LT1. I have done a search but I am not sure what to search for. I am not a tuner by any stretch of the imagination. I just need some sources and model #'s for a tool. Thanks for any help you can provide.

What do mean by scan, are you just looking to pull diag codes? If so you can pick up a tool at Sears for $20. Just throwing that out there but I'm sure you probably want something more extensive....As do I so i'm glad you asked the question.
If all you want is to pull diagnostic codes all you need is a paper clip and a search here on the forum. If you want more? I bought a Tech1 from E-bay, around $300.00 and then you need to get the cartridge for your car or the Mass Storage Cartridge that can be programmed for all GM OBD1 vehicles.
The Tech 1 is Bi-Directional, it is called for in my 93 FSM for diagnosing of the EGR system. It "TALKS" to the car and activates different systems, pulses the ABS, read O2 sensor voltages and probably a lot more than I have the need to do.
I have no experience with any other scanners.

Thanks! The tech 1 is what I was referring to. Right now there are none on Ebay. Any idea where I might could find a new one?
AutoXray make pretty good products. I have the AUTOXRAY EZ-SCAN 6000. It works really good. You can pick it up for under $300. Here is the link to do some reading on it.
