But you may not need gears at all in a 96, I think the calibration can be changed in the PCM by a tuner.

Now that's a thought. The car already has a tune that was performed about 3 years ago. I wonder what it will run to have the PCM upgraded by just this one upgrade

If you can contact the original tuner they will often do an update for less than the price of the original tune, good luck, let us know how you make out.
