Default 383 Guys, how do you ever pass emissions?

I'm going to get my Vette back soon from a new 383/Miniram install and I'm thinking I can pretty much forget about ever passing emissions or any visual test.

(Pics to follow soon.)

To tell you the truth I've been so focused on wanting more power I overlooked this little tidbit. :o

Anyway glad to be a part of the 383 club.

I would think as long as you have the cats on and a good tune it should pass.

The area surrounding my current duty station does not do engine visuals, smog, etc. In Hancock county Missippi there is no vehicle ispection requirement and St Tamminy Parish LA has simple safety inspection the guy checks to see that your lights work via mirrors on the wall so that he can see all the lights without leaving his chair.

Did I mention you can have a loaded firearm in your vehicle in both states without a permit?

With a mild cam (224 intake duration and minimal overlap), a good tune and cats.

Dig deep in your pockets for the pay off is my guess without a good tune.

I don't drive mine nowhere near 5k a year so I'm good!

Mine passes with a GOOD tune. The guys at the E-CHECK get a kick out of it actually. I don't know how strict your state is but in Ohio they cut the earlier cars alot of slack compared to what a new car needs to pass.

The cubes alone won't be the the problem. Is all the smog stuff there? A lot depends on the smog test laws in Pimpin' Ain't Easy.

I dont ever have to worry about getting a sticker. I have a hook up through a buddy that owns a family business doing inspections. I just text the vehicle info and he delivers the sticker with the paperwork showing that it passed for $75.

Not exactly the legal sticker but noone ever knows. I have got prob 6 stickers from him already. Only reason i cant pass legal is no cats.

Only if they do a visual test.

And IIRC, LT4 equipped cars won't have a EGR.

It wasn't necessary to remove the smog stuff to build a 383. Does Mass have a strict visual like CA? I now know where you can get a Texas sticker for $75.00.

CFI, if I port my '84 intake etc. like you have...will this effect my ability to smog here in Cali?? I just bought a new smog pump and I'd leave all smog items in place.

Thanks in advance...jham

Not even a little bit. Crossfires can be a little tricky on the sniffer, but the manifold porting won't make one ounce of difference. Many others have eliminated the ECR valve and/or the internal EGR channel while porting. I touched neither.

That'll kill your NOx (if they test for it for that year car).
