California smog testing. New rules?
I have heard California has added the charcoal unit and all lines running to and from it as part of the testing. Mine is due soon. Anyone had a check latley in California?

Had my 89 tested last month at Hesperia Smog ( 10-12 miles from you)
and they pressureize or vacuumize the fuel tank. Don't remember which. No biggie!
I always pay to have a pre-test just cuz. The car sailed right through!
Good luck!

Yeah.. did it in Jan... I watch him do this, I don't clam to be the expert on this part.. but for what I saw...
He pinched or clamped closed the line that runs from the tank to the canister (at the canister end). Then used the adapter on the filler cap of the tank and it is pressureized/vacuumize it to check for any lost of pressure. If there is any, one of the line is leaking between the tank and canister. There is usually a few rubber/plastic peices of hose and steel tubing between the two and if the rubber or plastic hose has gone bad, they will allow the fuel vapors to escape.

Smog testing is stupid. It's a thing that takes care of itself without government meddling in it.
Carmakers are always making cleaner efficient cars and as the old smoggy cars die, they're replaced with far cleaner ones.
Moneysota had these utterly stupid meaningless pathetic testing centers all over and wound up scrapping them. It's the only smart thing this rotten state goverment has done in recent history.
I feel better now. Another beer please.

They couldn't find the canister on my '94 when I took it in here in Arizona so they just passed it. They also couldn't figure out how to close the hood. Or why the "ASR Active" light kept coming on when it was on the rollers.

All you corvette owners where no smog is required are so lucky! I have 4 years 8 months until I retire and im out of California!! California has turned into a over regulated non sence state.
