Where is everyone putting the MAF sensor on supercharged cars? I have a 95 with a procharger and mine is located between the air filter and surge tube in the right front fender well. Is there a better location?
Are anyone running the MAF sensor on the pressure side and how are you doing it? On my set up I have a IAT sensor between the intercooler and the throttle body.
What I was thinking is I could relocate the IAT sensor and put the MAF in it's place. Could I relocate the IAT sensor somewhere else? I am told that the MAF is reading way to much air at idle.
My MAF is at the passenger front under the headlight, just in back of the air filter. Had to use a smaller coolant overflow tank.
That is where I had mine but it is picking up way to much air at idle I think because of the surge tube. I need some idea's on where to relocate it. I was going to put it up by the throttle body but it is 4" tube and the MAF is 3 1/2".
Would there be any possibility of using a newer MAF? I know that in 2000 or 2001, GM changed the MAF. Haven't played with them much but if they are bigger, maybe it would fit better? I believe they both work off of frequency, right? I probably know enough to be dangerous here.
I've got an LS style MAF on my LT motor in my '85. I'm using an '89 computer with a MAF translator. Even gives me some tunability at various RPM and under three different load settings. Check out www.maftpro.com for more info. I like what it does for me. Then again, I would have been forced to use the bosch unit if I didn't have this, due to that frequency/voltage differential between the Tune port stuff and the LT and up.
no, but now i am wondering about the pressure side may be good but no intercooler? no where to put MAF like that on my setup. Still need to research more.
Man, I just got done relocateing the MAF. Had to change the worm clamps out for some t-bolt clamps. It seems like for 5K Procharger could put a little bit better parts in there systems. Like the clamps, by the time you get them tite enough so they don't leak if you have to take it back appart you need to replace the clamps. Also I think they can do better on there hose. I just bought two silicone 45 degree reducers 4" to 3.5" for $40. Nice hose. And I am begining to wonder about the intercooler. If I knew then what I know now I would have got the system without all of the intercooler stuff. (Tubing, intercooler and hose). Will see when I dyno it.
were you having any trouble with idle or WOT with it the way you had it? I sure would like to know, thanks
I had a rich problem at idle and criuse. I'm not sure at WOT because I don't have a AFR meter. I believe what happens is the surge valve blows unused air back out into the intake hose which is already filled with air so it blows the air out the MAF and air filter causeing the MAF to give a false reading of to much air causeing the PCM to richen the the mixture.
You can tell if it is running rich by pulling your plugs. If there black it's rich. Hope this helps.
