There already is a V12 C4 Corvette at the NCM. :D The front end is lengthened, and it has more gills on the side. Or is it a V10, damnit now I can't remember.... :) It was impressive though!
One thing that still f's me up in the head is why the heck they make V-12's with so little displacement?
Why can't we take like the big butt power of a V8 and just increase from 8 to 12 cylinders? This isn't rocket science it can't be that tough of a mod really.
Oh well maybe I'm just a young crazy not but why not like a 7.0 or 8.0 liter V-12 built by the general? ;)
Hrmm if the math is the problem how bout 16 cylinders? hehe, just make a huge cube, put 2 sets of heads in V's, 1 on top 1 on bottom ;) It'd be beefy as hell in size but I'm sure you could generate more power then is sane for a normal person to have hehe.
Somebody kick the generals butt to start making American Sized V-12s ;)
LS6 = Cool
8.0L Chevy V12 = Something I'd actually buy ;)
Would probably have to chop a few things in the front and do some interesting cooling mods but boy the torque would be to die for.... and probably die in ;P
Blue 92 & Mr Mojo - nice pic's, I've got to make it to the NCM someday.
The main thing that attracted me to the BMW engine was the size comparison to the Chev 350, plus the fact that this is basically the same engine as in the McLaren F1. :D
General Motors has been working on a V-12 prototype since 1999. The concept is called Northstar XV12. Funny to see American automakers finally trying to implement designs first seen in overseas production autos 60 years ago.

FYI, Horsepower = (Torque x RPM) / 5252
What are the horsepower/liter numbers for a small block Chevy? Compare that to a Turbocharged inline 4, or V-12. Think about it.
BMW and other German V12s are $$$$$$.$$. A big ZR1 motor (415 ci) would run rings aound one and cost a lot less. Be a bolt in compared to the BMW motor even in a non ZR1 C4. If the LS1 had been a 4 valve overhead cam motor it would probably be a cool swap into any vett. The cost would have been much cheaper since it would have been a production motor. Maybe the C6 will get one.
There is the Jaguar V12 motor from XJS that is really cheap (as dirt) but they are only 5.0 liters, 2 valves per cylinder and many jag owners replace them with Chevy V8s because they suck. I have heard that the later 6.0 liter ones were better but you'll be putting a Ford motor in a Chevy :eek: with that swap.
