Shifter/ashtray surround wear
Hi, The former owner of my 96 6 speed wore some of the top surface off I guess with his leg. Does anyone know of a repair method or am I faced with buying the new piece? It's that non skid type surface I'm referring to. Thanks! Don

I don't think there's any way to repair it to look like stock, but I believe mid America sells the consol piece, it's expensive though.
I need it as well.

Thanks, Thought there might be an outside chance. The Partsladi on ebay has them for about 95 bucks (75 in stock). I've bought other parts from them (rear wheel hub bearing, etc.) and it's worked out. dh

That was one of the many dumb moves GM made coating with Dulso. I wonder what they were thinking and did not change it at the end of the C4 run. They had to get complaints about it. Yep the partsladi has some good parts even OEM stuff.

Dash refinish
There was a very thorough write-up and thread a year or more ago. Try a search. As memory serves, if you only need 1 part for $95 it would be well worth it as the refinish was very involved and utilized some expensive chemicals.
