Well I did the stuff I found on the forum. I took of those sensors off the fram and sanded them and the frame down and added that grease (was not rusty after all). I did the port K graounded to seat track thing and the counting. the infl light flashes a 12 and nothing else but the light stays on, what am I doing wrong?
Also the seat belt light stays on no matter what, and the wire connected to the reciever is attached.
i know there is a way to fix this, even with an aftermarket stereo. one of the local guys finally got his zr1 to stop, just wish i could remember how. also, you can just pull the infl rest light on the cluster but it won't fix the seatbelt light which is part of the stereo swap problem. my 1990 has the same 2 lights on for the same reason. i just never have spent the time learning what needs to be done to fix it. i wonder if we can yank the seatbelt bulb on our dash cluter, or if the bulb has dual purpose? i should look into that, just pulling the bulbs might do it.
Sometimes doing the grounding and ungrounding thing won't work all the time. You may have to try it several times to get it to work. But if that don't clear it you have a bad frame sensor. Most times it's the passenger side sensor that goes bad. They are about $60 bucks from GM Peel back the carpet down in the footwell area and up on the firewall you will see the connector to the sensor (it's yellow in color) WHEN DOING ANY WORK ON THIS SYSTEM DISSCONNECT THE BATTERY) After unplugging the connector you need to OHM the pins in the connector to determine if it's faulty or not. When you ground out the pins on the connector under the dash does any codes flash? Get back to me on this maybe with a FAX # and I can send you the OHM specs and procedure to test the frame sensor Pipe
I had to try like 20 times when i was resetting mine.
One of the parts dealers has a tool and on they also have a guide on their site with a similar procedure as on this site.
I followed the parts dealers guide and that fixed it for me.
Maybe my bad english.
Ok I'm getting a code 26 even though I did the sand the frame and sensor thing, plus like I said it was not even corroded at all. So what do I need anew sensor?
The grounding process is a screaming pain in the butt, and it could quite possibly drive you into a straight jacket! MidAmerica makes a handy dandy reset device and it works, there $20 I think.

Are you positive that you cleared the code? It can be very tricky if you do not do the sequence correct. It has to be exact. The other issue, it can be the connection inside the cabin causing the issue. Unplug it, inspect it, spray some electrical cleaner in it and try to reset again. If all else replace the sensor.
I have also found that if when clearing codes, if you do it correctly it will come up with 12, but if you haven't done the fix properly, the light will come on after you start the car.
A code #26 is the right front frame Sensor fault. It needs to be replaced then the code cleared. Pipe p.s. the Mid America tool is cool it has the pages right from the GM service manual to guide you through it with OHM Specs.
is there any reason to keep this system active? does the infl rest light defeat the airbag? just wondering what the heck the purpose of this system even is.
I'm sure if the car was in a front crash even with the right side sensor not working it would trigger the left side sensor and deploy the air bag. The guy's are right you have to be right on when clearing the code or it will persist. The timing is important when clearing the code. Use a wristwatch or stopwatch when erasing the code. Pipe
