It's about as thick as a wratcheting wrench but definitely thinner than putting a socket on a wratcheting wrench.

The result ...
Tried a sears "robo-grip" ... POS ... tossed it in the garbage.
Craftsman low profile "bolt-out" couldn't get a grip, the bolt is rounded, and rounded over, so it wouldn't bite. This looks like a worthwhile tool to have around.
Bought a brand new set of sharp, curved jaw, vice grips, clamped them on t-i-g-h-t using a another wrench ... and BINGO!
