So here's the deal... the oil level sensor float came off the oil level sensor and is basically floating around (along with the little circular part that holds it on to the end of the assembly) in the oil pan. It makes me a little nervous to know that there is material floating around in the oil pan when my engine is revved to 5k rpms... not a good thing. How big of a PITA is it to drop the oil pan on one of these LT1 motors? Anything special about the gasket?
I have a new oil level sensor (from GM parts counter) waiting to go in, but it is a white plastic model and the original oil level sensor seemed to be made out of some sort of metal.... weird....
Remove starter.
Remove oil filter and oil filter adapter
Remove the 'wings' over the knock sensors
After doing those, you can easily get to all the bolts for the pan. You may need to remove the two motor mount nuts so you can jack the motor up approx 1-2 inches to remove the pan. I did it on mine and it wasn't hard.

Just an updated version, it will work just fine.
Also, I would get a Felpro oil pan gasket, it is a bit thicker than its OEM counterpart.
