Default Anyone have problems with their Headers rubbing....

Up against the heater box (I think it's called the evaporator/housing) on the passenger side?
These are 2149 Hooker headers.

My builder just called to let me know the passenger side is slightly touching the plastic and melting it a bit. (sorry no pics yet)

I've searched the archives and can't find any thing on this?

A thought here, if it is a raised port cylinder heads that might change some things?

oh the #8 bolt is a tough one. My em's clear that box by about an inch.
I had such a hard time trying to get to that bolt, from the bottom i used an allen, 1/4" socket to go onto the allen, 1/4" swivel, then about 1' of 1/4 extensions, 3/8 swivel, then a 3/8 extention and a ratchet.

Let us know how it goes!

Some of the new aftermarket ones are beefier and/or have poly bushings built in, if they moved the engine up just an inch, i could see something getting pinched. I doubt they moved the engine more to the pass. side because that would screw up alignments on a few other things.

I'd say it either has to be that, or raised ports on the heads as suggested.

OP - if those headers are new - the egr tube ext. shouldnt be drill out yet - so if you have to cut it off your ok. if you dont need egr in your area loose it

look at the picture posted , the ac evap housing is gone. gotta be the heads

I have solid mounts in my c4 , but I did away with the air tubes and egr

How much is barely? I have less than 1/4" gap and from what I can tell has not melted the housing.

Who is doing the install? (I think we're local to each other).

When I had the 2149s I had like an inch plus of clearance too. I wonder if the exhaust port on the Brodix heads are moved.

Motor mounts could move the motor a hair, but I'd think your other side would also be hitting the steering column.

I hated the 2149s. Floors got stupid hot, they leaked, the ceramic coating rusted off the bottoms (from water splash no doubt)..

I was told they were slightly touching them which would cause the plastic to melt a bit.

I talked to the builder last night and all is good, he cut & filed down the housing (with my permission) a little and the headers clear it.
I will glass & resin the cut-out & make it look factory, I'm hoping to get the car back tonight.

Dracut eh? Once you get the headers on the vette, swing by the shop sometime. I'm actually in the process of packing things up and moving out (by May), as my cousin is taking over the shop/business.

I'll have to check Xplicit out sometime. They wouldn't happen to have a Dyno would they?
