I replaced my leaking clutch slave and non-leaking master. Went smooth using posts from this forum and my FSMs. Thanks. Working fine, no more leaks. This forum scared me from buying AC-Delco parts so I bought knock-offs from Rockauto. Unfortunately I didn't listen when you said use GM fluid so I used synthetic that I alreaday had so I got some Master squeaks. But I'm thinking of installing muffler eliminators so that should cure hearing the squeaks. The Master I have didn't come with a moisture barrier so I tried to use the one from the old master. Problem is it doesn't fit quite correctly. If I put it in like it's suppose to be with its lip above the master top, I can't get the cap on. If I tuck it down under the top of the master, I can get the cap on, which is the way I currently have it. Should I leave it like that or pitch the moisture barrier? I can't use old cap because it screws on while the new one ratchets on.
Ya i just did my master/slave on the 96. My master does not have the insert inside either. I tryed to make it fit in there but the top wont go on.
I have been running with the newer style after market master and its fine.
I have a very solid peddle no bleeding needed.
After reading some horror stories I was kind of skeptical about bleeding.
But it was a breeze.
Thanks. I agree to not use the old moisture barrier with the new master since it doesn't fit right and I worry it might slip down and block the passage way to the master cylinder. Or I guess it couldn't do that because it will float. Now I'm not sure. Since it's in there I guess I'll leave it there. I also assume that 2008 synthetic fluid is way better that 1995 fluid with respect to moisture.
Today my c4 is back on the road for the season. Hope I don't have to fix anything else until next winter.
