Default Please name all the components that control spark/fire

the car is a '92 LT1

I have no spark and it will not start.

The Opti-spark works and so does the coil. The computer is throwing a code #42 something about an EST(?) sensor may be grounding or something...

Anyway can you help me by listing all of the components that cause spark/fire. i.e relays, switches, sensors, computer security moduals?

And can someone please tell me where the crank position sensor is?

Any input is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

How do you know the opti is working? Do you have the FSM to trouble shoot the code 42. The opti is the crank position sensor on your car. Try using the search for DTC 42 OR CODE 42

thanks for the link its exactly my story, sorry i didn't use the search option first...I think the opti is good because i used one lying around my friends shop, wired it with a spark plug, touched the plug to metal, and spun the gear manually with a screwdriver and still no spark however it made the fuel injectors pulsate...As far as the code it told me how to trouble shoot everything but the code i had!?! I guess i will try the ignition control module and see if that does anything but can a faulty ICM actually cause a complete loss of fire?

Trouble shoot per the FSM and find the root of the problem before throwing money at parts... Try using the Search, as said before, alot of info available, include Archives in your search, under Advanced option

Icm failure is a common problem. Yes they fail at anytime and the car will die and not restart. They can be tested at Autozone. Remember if it is bad to use the heat sink past on the back, heat is what causes them to fail.
