Flushing cooling system??

Flushing cooling system??
Is it possible to take the hose off the top of the intake (Top of Radiator-To-Intake Manifold), and put a water hose in it (Where the thermostat is) then disconnect the lower radiator hose and turn the water on full blast, then start the car and turn on the heater and let it go like that for a while. Will this completely flush my system, or will it destroy my car?

The cool water will keep the thermostat closed. You could do it if you remove the thermostat. I would leave the bottom hose on and let it back flush the radiator. What I do is get some good radiator flush and run it through the system for a while with the heat on. Then remove the thermostat and back flush it for a couple hours. No need to keep it running. You can hold open the heater valve with a piece of wire so it gets flushed also.
