Security system problem
My security system is not working, I lock the doors via the lock button and close the door, when I reach in and open the door; all I hear is a clicking sound(sounds like a turn signal) and when I put my key in, I can start the car. Thought with the security system activated you were not supposed to be able to start the car?
The clicking sound is coming from the right side under the dash, guessing I have a bad horn relay.

You can start the car when the security system is going off with the right key. Don't ask how I found that out. If your horn works on the column your thought is sound if not check the horns. Mabey a wire off the VATS or relay sounds like it is pulling in and out.

in the middle of the dash behind the stereo on my 87, open the door with the button, then lock with the key then open again with the button this worked on mine when i had the alarm going off a lot.
as long as you have the right key giving the correct resistance (see vatsucks.com) then it will start.
