Just a simple question, how bad are they? I'm looking to make 450hp+ at the crank and wondering if major porting can make these heads good. Otherwise I'll pick up a set of 200cc Dart heads.
yep that's what I figured, no harm in asking is there?
looks like I'll pick up a nice set of Darts. ( also I wasn't implying that I was only going to do heads, I'm doing a full engine rebuild and heads was one thing I had to think about).
What CI, compression ratio, solid or hrdraulic cam (before you go buy heads)
gonna keep it a 350, maybe bore the cylinders out .03 over. Don't want to stroke as it's not reasonable cost wise atm and I like my revs. Compression ratio I'm not 100% sure yet, going to talk to my speedshop for some good opinions but probably 10:1. Camshaft will be decided on how the heads flow but it'll probably be a Hydraulic flat tappet, duration ~220/220 lift ~.52 w/ 1.6 rockers and a 112 CL.
The cost of stroking the car as far as rotating kits go is hardly anything , if it is only a little. Clearancing the block for a stroker is abotu $75 to $150 depending on the shop.
IMO those heads are too big for a 350 with a 220@.050 cam, may not reach your hp goal. A 383 can rev just fine.

I guess you're right I do need to replace the rotating assembly anyways as I have a spun rod bearing. 200cc fine for a 383?
