Default 93 Throttle Body Differences.

Going to take the throttle body off my car for a good scrubbing. Then I thought I'd put new sensors in as long as I had it that far apart. Then I thought.. Why not just put a new throttle body on?
I was looking at one from AS&M and they tell me it fits 92-97 LT1's. Other sites have different throttle bodys listed for 92-93 Vettes.
So is there a difference, or is the AS&M guy trying to sell me a throttle body I can't use?

The main differences are in the linkage brackets on the side. Some of the vendors have a one size fits all type of linkage. This can sometimes lead to trouble as the butterflies may not open all the way. If you do a search....you'll come up with some of the problems encountered. The 92/93 linkage is shaped differently from the 94/96 throttle bodies. The accelerater cables also changed too.

Since I posted I've been doing some searches on Google and found out the IAC and TPS sensors and their wires are different too, although there are vendors who sell adapters.

The early 93's(mine) have the same IAC as the 92, late 93's are the same as the 93-97's. The TPS is he same for all 92-94 and all wiring is almost exact between 92-94.

Do you know when they changed at? (prod number?) I think mines an early one also as it has the double sided belt.

If you have a double sided belt, you are a very early 93. Double sided belts was the 1st change in 93, I have 12/92 and I have the 92 IAC, my friend has a 2/93 and his is the newer style. They changed things throughout the year, the 93 is pretty much a one year wonder. I wont even go into trannies.

Randy hit it right, early LT1s have the big IAC, aka big plug, later models changed IAC and TPS, and went to smaller plugs, much smaller, you can get an adapter for them. I use the 4bbl TBs and they, mine at least, use the smaller IAC and TPS.

+ linkage changes of course.

The IAC doesn't matter because it is attached to the lower plate which in most cases you will be transferring to the new throttle body.
