Looks like the a/c on my 92 coupe has sprung a leak. It looks like the line going into the evaporator core by the firewall is leaking but just inside the core. Anyone have any experience with changing the evaporator core. Its in a tight spot by the radiator fill. Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give.

Not a bad project... at least its not the heater core :D
evap core is easy... just pull the A/C box apart. If you have any freon left I recommend it be evacuated by a professional. Then you can get it back after you make the repairs. I also recommend replacing all o-rings while you have the system uncorked.

I did the evaporator core on my '92. It isn't terrible, but it is a pain. I'd make sure it's a leak in the core, and not the hose, before you take it all apart. Some of the screws that hold the cover on the box are hard to get at. Get the bottom ones from under the car. Once I got all the screws out, the cover was a real pain to get out of the car. It's a big part, and there's not much room.
You'll notice that the heater core inlet and outlet tubes are right there. I pushed against them a little too much and broke a solder joint getting that cover out of the car and then back in... so after I got it all put back together my heater core leaked. My evaporator core job then continued as a heater core job. :cry Be very careful around those heater core tubes, it doesn't take much to brake the solder joints!!
Also, if you're thinking about changing spark plugs, that would be the time to do it, as the absence of that evaporator cover makes the dreaded rear passenger plug a piece of cake! Good luck!!
Thanks for the advice. This will be my winter project. I'm hoping its just the hose but I have a feeling its not! By the way, anyone know a good a/c parts supplier? I'll be ordering soon.
