Default Design differnces between L98 and LT-1?

Other than opti spark, what are the differneces between L98 and LT-1?

Same block? Where does it find the extra 55 or so HP?

Heads? valve angle? cam? intake?

thanks

Keith

The LT1 also has reverse cooling heads. The reason it has more hp is the same reason it has less torque- redesigned intake. It does not have the long runners that an L98 has which produce low end torque. This is why the L98 'vettes can often beat LT1s in a short street race (first few hundred feet)

The differences are:

Intake, waterpump driven off of timing chain, reverse cooled water system, Opti spark distributor driven off of camshaft, different exhuast manifolds, dual exhuast with dual converters, higher compression, slightly different camshaft, better flowing heads. Most of the extra power comes from exhuast, heads and intake.

Biggest difference is an LT1 is a HP engine. The heads flow better, reverse cooling (the heads get coolant first after cooled) The water pump is driven off the cam shaft (this is how v-drive drag boat have driven H20 pumps for years) saving drag from the engine, better cam profile, higher compression, larger exhaust manifolds, larger exhaust pipe, intake has short runners which favors HP, smog pumps are not drive off the engine and other stuff previously mentioned.
